Drama as residents evacuated after police find grenades and gun in night raid on house

direct to your inbox A woman has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm after police raided an address in Stretford in the early hours of Thursday morning (January 28).

Police executed a warrant at a property on Milton Close at 2.20am and arrested a 41-year-old woman, who remains in custody. Bomb disposal officers from the Royal Logistics Corps were called to the address after police discovered two grenades at the property.

Fire engines and ambulance services were also at the scene on standby.In a statement, GMP said the house and a number of flats close by had been evacuated 'as a precaution'.One resident said they had been woken at around 4am by officers who asked them to leave.
