Irvine's Dragon Boat Race is set to return this summer after a five-year hiatus.The event will take place at Irvine Harbour on Saturday, July 18 as part of the Making Waves Festival.Race organisers Irvine Seagate Rotary and North Ayrshire Council are billing the race as a 'fundraising opportunity for charity groups , a challenge for work teams or just a day for fun and thrills'.Teams are now being sought with anyone aged 12 upwards eligible to take part.Teams require 16 paddlers, one drummer and an optional three reserves.
The course is 250 metres long.It costs £50 to enter and entry forms are available from Ian Dickson by emailing ian@thedicksons.me.uk and any member of Seagate Rotary.For more information visit www.irvineharbourside.org.
