Double rapist who preyed on women in Edinburgh fails in bid to quash conviction

A sex attacker who was jailed for the rapes of two women earlier this year has failed in his bid to overturn his conviction.

Raymond Nyiam preyed on his victims in separate incidents in March 2017 and November 2018 after meeting them on nights out in Edinburgh and accompanying them home.

He then took advantage of them and carried out the attacks while they were in their beds and too drunk to consent.Nyiam, of Edinburgh, was jailed for seven years in April - but the sex attacker lodged an appeal with the High Court of Justiciary's Appeal Court to have his conviction and sentence thrown out.His appeal was based on whether he had 'reasonable belief' his victims had consented to sex, claiming it was wrong for the jurors in his trial to be told
