Pictures taken this morning show Platt Fields Park in Fallowfield and Cutting Room Square in Ancoats in a sorry state with litter strewn across the areas.

Hundreds of empty glass bottles, cans and empty alcohol boxes were left on the hill at the south Manchester park. Gas cannisters were dotted around on the grass and bins were overflowing.

Dozens of plastic carrier bags and piles of burnt out rubbish were also left behind at the park. There were similar scenes in Cutting Room
