Actor Dennis Waterman has died at the age of 74. A statement said: "We are deeply saddened to announce that our beloved Dennis passed away very peacefully at his home in Spain." Dennis was renowned for his roles in Minder, The Sweeney and New Tricks.
He is reported to have died with his wife by his side. The star first found fame in his teens while starring in Just William.
He's since become an acclaimed face on British TV, most notably in the 1970s, where he played roles including Det Sgt George Carter opposite John Thaw in ITV's police drama The Sweeney.
Other hit shows he's recognised for include Minder from 1979 to 1989 as Terry McCann, as well as comedies such as On the Up and Stay Lucky.
