The long-awaited demolition of a crumbling Dumfries school site plagued by vandalism is set to get under way.Council bosses ordered workers to return to the former Maxwelltown High campus after lockdown sparked an increase in nuisance behaviour.The move has been welcomed by Councillor Graham Bell, pictured, who was behind repeated calls for action.Mr Bell, who represents the North West Dumfries ward, said: “There has been a lot of vandalism.
The demolition is due to recommence due to the antisocial behaviour we had over a period of time and due to lockdown there has been more going on.“It’s been a long process, it’s been a health and safety issue here and it is a priority.“This is long overdue, the issues really started in the last part of.
