Daniel Radcliffe's Weird Al meets Madonna in new trailer for biopic

Daniel Radcliffe has taken on potentially his most bizarre role to date in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story – and the new trailer has us all kinds of hyped. The former Harry Potter actor is starring as Weird Al, the iconic musician known for his comedy songs, in the biopic that we never knew we needed. ‘I’m tired of people thinking I’m some kind of joke,’ Al says at the beginning of the trailer. ‘My whole life, all I’ve wanted…is to make up new words to a song that already exists’. ‘Oh, well you should do that, then,’ he’s told.

To the sound of his song My Bologna, the film promises the ‘untold story’ of Weird Al, with The Office’s Rainn Wilson starring as Dr Demento, the radio broadcaster who brought Al to national attention, and Evan Rachel Wood as none other than Madonna.

Speaking of Madonna! We see Evan’s Madonna requesting a parody of her iconic hit Like A Virgin. But not everything is smooth sailing, with the trailer also promising some emotional moments. ‘In front of all the billions of people around the world watching right now, all I want to say is be as weird as you want to be,’ he says. ‘You will never find true happiness until you truly accept who you are. ’Previously responding to the casting, the music legend himself joked he has been planning the biopic for a long time.

He quipped: ‘When my last movie UHF came out in 1989, I made a solemn vow to my fans that I would release a major motion picture every 33 years, like clockwork. ‘I’m very happy to say we’re on schedule.
