Coronavirus Scotland: Intensive care patients fall below 100 for the first time since March

Intensive care cases of coronavirus have dropped below 100 for the first time since the end of March. Health Secretary Jeane Freeman revealed the “encouraging” figure as the death toll from Covid-19 reached 1571 in Scotland.

Freeman, speaking at a daily briefing in Edinburgh, said 99 patients were in intensive care, down nine since yesterday. She said: “It's obviously very encouraging news."It does show that the restrictions are working, but it also underlines the reasons why we need to stick to them."So I want to thank all of you for the sacrifices you have made and I know will continue to make.
