Bury Council is expecting the COVID-19 crisis to last beyond September as the peak of the virus flattens. A total of 233 people had tested positive for coronavirus in Bury on Thursday, up by 20 cases from the previous day.
Bury Council chief executive Geoff Little told the cross-party COVID-19 emergency powers group that there has been a shift in predictions.
He said: “For several weeks, we’ve been working on the basis of a worst-case scenario of the peak coming this week. It’s now changed to a flatter but longer peak. “We are planning for the lifting of restrictions, but we can’t plan for a particular day because we don’t know what that is yet. “If infections peak again, we may well have a repeat of restrictions, so we are planning for
