Beverly Cleary has sadly passed away at the age of 104. Publishing house Harper Collins revealed the news of her death in a press release, reporting that she died on Thursday (March 25) in Carmel, Calif. Beverly first book, “Henry Huggins”, was published in 1950, and kicked off an amazing career for the author.
She is best known as the creator of “Judy Blume” and “Ramona and Beezus Quimby”. “We are saddened by the passing of Beverly Cleary, one of the most beloved children’s authors of all time,” Suzanne Murphy, President and Publisher, HarperCollins Children’s Books shared in a statement. “Looking back, she’d often say, ‘I’ve had a lucky life,’ and generations of children count themselves lucky too…” She added, “We at HarperCollins also
