Join thousands of others who have signed up for the Daily Record newsletter.A charity has enlisted more than 50 volunteers to provide support to anyone struggling to cope mentally during and after the coronavirus lockdown.The new service has been set up by the charity FAMS, which is now in its seventh year of operation.An initial 27 trained volunteers are on hand to respond to phone calls, video calls, text messages and emails from anyone contacting FAMS.Chat.The new service launched several weeks ago, with a further 25 volunteers taking up their posts at the end of last month.FAMS was originally launched to help people struggling to come to terms with the loss of a loved-one through murder or suicide.It is now based in Motherwell’s.
