A member of the Democratic Party, Biden is the presumptive Democratic nominee for president in the 2020 election. He unsuccessfully sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 1988 and in 2008.

Biden now has a projected total of 273 electoral votes, which gives him the 270 he needs to win the election.
The President-elect is still ahead in battleground states like Georgia, Nevada, and Arizona, so he could end up with 306 electoral votes… which happens to be the amount of electoral votes that Trump had in 2016.
