The RSPCA has urged people struggling during the coronavirus pandemic to not dump their pets after two cats were found dumped near the Rochdale Canal.
The two black and white cats were discovered by a passer-by near to Albert Royds Street, in Rochdale, on Friday, April 3. They had been left in a cat carrier with no food or water, and were very nervous when rescued by the RSPCA.
The female cats, aged around six to 12 months old, are now being cared for by the RSPCA Rochdale and District branch. Staff have named the pair Harbour and Haven.
The cats are still quite nervous, but it is hoped with patience from staff they will begin to come out of their shell. RSPCA Inspector Sarah Bagley, who rescued the cats, said: "These poor cats had been
