The youngster was riding a seated, 'Segway-style' scooter, before it was involved in a collision with a Ford Transit flatbed truck, police said.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at the junction of Baycroft Gove and Moorcroft Road and cordoned off the road yesterday afternoon (Sunday).

The boy was taken to hospital with a serious leg injury. No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing. Police are now appealing for any witnesses of the crash - which happened just before 3.10pm - to come forward.
