Billy Connolly says he treats his Parkinson’s disease the way he used to deal with hecklers at stand-up shows – by staring at his arm until it stops shaking.

Connolly was diagnosed with the illness in 2013 and retired from live shows five years later. He said: “I’ve learnt to hypnotise my hand.

I glare at it and it kinda quivers.“I just stare at it and eventually it stops. It’s quite a good trick.
