BBC Strictly Come Dancing star Angela Scanlon reveals reason for show 'refusal' after fans spotted move

Angela Scanlon has gone against the usual Strictly Come Dancing grain - and some fans have noticed. Now, the Irish TV presenter has opened up about her refusal to be doused in fake tan before appearing in the ballroom every Saturday night.

During week four of the BBC One dance contest on Saturday night (October 14), Angela and her dance partner Carlos Gu scored 28 for their Viennese waltz to You Are The Reason by Calum Scott and Leona Lewis but it only earned them 28 points leaving them third from the bottom of the latest leaderboard.

Head judge Shirley Ballas told the broadcaster that she needed to "understand the footwork" so she could improve, while Anton Du Beke said it was "emotionally very beautiful" but that he would have "liked to see it breathier". The 39-year-old who has kids Ruby and Marnie with husband Roy Horgan, said she wants to show them she is proud of who she is. "I suppose I am quite body confident, (but) more in a defiant way," Angela told the Mirror. "I know people have talked about the fact that I’m not wearing fake tan, that’s because I think it’s important to lean in to who you are and what you have.
