Strictly Come Dancing star Lauren Oakley has responded to the outpouring of messages about her appearance following the show's Halloween special.

The professional dancer is currently competing for the first time in the BBC One dance contest after joining the programme last year.

Lauren is paired with Channel 4 news presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy and over the weekend the pair performed a Viennese waltz as Jekyll and Hyde in a dance which looked "menacing", according to presenter Tess Daly, as the pair donned elaborate costumes.

Craig Revel Horwood said that the dance lacked “flow”, but he said he loved the characterisation and the couple were awarded 27 points out of a possible 40 and then during Sunday night's results show, Krishnan and Lauren sailed through to week seven of the competition.
