Local media reported that the tragedy happened on Tuesday at around 7pm in Port d'Alcudia. A lifeguard performed first aid on the British child, with police and paramedics being scrambled to the scene, the Mirror reports. She was transferred to the intensive care unit but the little girl passed away and her death was confirmed at 5pm yesterday.
More than 20 people have drowned in the Balearic Islands this summer. The emergency services called to 47 separate incidents.
