An Ayrshire war veteran has vowed not to let the coronavirus lockdown spoil his 100th birthday celebrations.Jack Ransom of Largs hits the milestone age today.But he will have to do without an arranged birthday bash because of social distancing rules brought on by Covid-19.A guest list of 80 family and friends had planned to join Jack for his party, including MP Patricia Gibson who had intended to present him with an Early Day Motion in recognition of his remarkable life and service to his county.Instead he will spend the day at home celebrating with his beloved wife Maddie.But Jack knows all abut coming through difficult times - he is one of the last surviving war veterans who survived being a Prisoner of War in the infamous Burmese Railway
