More than 14,000 fines issued for breaking lockdown laws with Thames Valley the worst offenders. A total of 14,244 fines were given by police forces in England and Wales for alleged breaches of the coronavirus laws up to May 11, the National Police Chiefs' Council said.

Of the fines, 13,445 were handed out in England and 799 in Wales. Thames Valley, which has Oxford as its major centre, had the biggest amount of fines issued at 866 followed by North Yorkshire with 843 and 799 in Devon and Cornwall.

The least amount of fines were issued by the British Transport Police in Wales at 11, while in England the Ministry of Defence had just 27.
