At least 25 casual employees, such as lifeguards, receptionists, pool attendants, cleaners and many other leisure centre workers, claim their lockdown wage packets have been slashed – without advance warning or explanation.A source told Ayrshire Live how one leisure centre employee was shocked and upset when she was handed her monthly payslip – which totalled just £8.Now there is growing anger among the group of workers over the way they have been treated by South Ayrshire Council.

UNISON, the public sector union, is representing its affected members and Ayr MSP John Scott has also waded into the dispute.
