Annual Covid vaccine likely in the fight against the disease and new variants

Booster vaccine doses every year might be required to tackle Covid-19 in the long run, according to a vaccine boss. Dr Albert Bourla from pharmaceutical giant Pfizer said annual jags could boost population immunity.

The health care professional added that the company is already working on a new jab in order to tackle the concerning Omicron variant.

The new Covid strain has now been found in at least 24 countries, with a total of ten cases identified in Scotland so far.
