Steven Gerrard

Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

Rangers two points in Lisbon tonight. Steven Gerrard's side looked comfortable as they entered the final 15 minutes with a two-goal advantage against the 10 men of Benfica, but two late strikes from the hosts meant they had to settle for a point.

The result means Rangers remain second in the group on goal difference behind Benfica after missing the chance to leapfrog Jorge Jesus' side in Group D of the Europa League.

The Eagles went ahead thanks to a Connor Goldson own goal in the opening minute, and McCoist was unimpressed with Filip Helander's role.

Speaking on BT Sport, he said: "Helander, who had a pretty poor night all round, gives away the ball for the first goal here.
