Alexander Skarsgard is opening up about the reasons he felt he was being blocked from more serious roles early on in his career.
The 45-year-old The Northman star talked with The Sunday Times about his newest movie, and shared his thoughts on how being placed on a “sexy” list when he was younger contributed to him being pigeonholed in the industry. Click inside to read more… Alexander shared, “I don’t really know if that was the reason I wasn’t getting roles, [but] starting out in Sweden, there was stuff about being tall and blond.
But most people here are tall and blond.” “Still, after my first job, I was on a stupid ‘sexy hunky hot list’ and then people didn’t take me seriously,” he added. “If you want characters with depth but have been labeled ‘a dude who takes his shirt off,’ you’re not going to get those offers.” Alexander did say that he felt his career take off after starring on the HBO limited series Generation Kill, however, he admitted that he still had some speedbumps along the way. “I was questioning why I was in the industry,” he said.
