John Roger Stephens (born December 28, 1978), known professionally as John Legend, is an American singer, songwriter, producer, actor, and philanthropist. Adele has won her very first Emmy on the opening night of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards. The 34-year-old singer took home the Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) gong for her CBS special 'Adele One Night Only', although she was absent from the ceremony that was held in Los Angeles on Saturday (03.

09. 22). The special programme aired last November and saw the mega star perform new music for the first time in six years and conduct an intimate interview with Oprah Winfrey. 'Adele One Night Only' also scooped wins in the Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction For A Variety Special, Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Variety Series Or Special and Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control For A Special categories.

The honour means that Adele is just a Tony Award win away from EGOT status - a person who has an Emmy Award, a Grammy Award, an Oscar and a Tony Award.

Only 17 people have managed to obtain EGOT status, including Mel Brooks, Whoopi Goldberg and John Legend. Adele has won 15 Grammys and also claimed the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2013 for her James Bond theme 'Skyfall'.

Written and performed by Orji and shot in downtown Los Angeles, the special focuses on her evolving thoughts on friendship, dating, adulting and why guys need better friends — all of which she discusses in therapy. With a mix of stand-up and scripted vignettes, she offers her point of view on issues such as the pandemic and estate planning, as well as being the child of Nigerian immigrants and the brutal realities of dating. This is Orji’s second stand-up special at HBO, following up on 2020’s “Mama, I Made It!” She is best known for playing Molly in HBO’s “Insecure,” which earned her an Emmy nomination in 2020. She hosted Amazon Prime Video’s year-in-review comedy special “Yearly Departed” in 2021 and HBO Max’s reality dating series “My Mom, Your Dad” in 2022. Other credits include episodes of “Jane the Virgin,” “A Black Lady Sketch Show” and ABC’s reboot of “The Wonder Years” as well as the films “Night School,” “Spontaneous” and “Vacation Friends.” Up next, she is developing the semi-autobiographical comedy series “First Gen” at Disney Plus, with Oprah Winfrey and David Oyelowo executive producing.

Courteeners, English Teacher and Louis Tomlinson were among the acts to be honoured at the first-ever Northern Music Awards.The inaugural ceremony – hosted by the UK’s largest music therapy charity, Nordoff And Robbins – took place at the Albert Hall in Manchester last night (April 23) to celebrate northern artists, festivals, venues and industry figures.Presented by BBC Radio 6 Music DJ Chris Hawkins, the event featured live performances from Courteeners frontman Liam Fray, as well as English Teacher, Lisa Stansfield, The K’s and more.Guest presenters from the region included former Manchester United footballer Gary Neville, New Order‘s Gillian Gilbert and Stephen Norris, and Grimsby-born actor Thomas Turgoose (This Is England). ‌ Neville awarded Courteeners with the Band Of The Year prize.
