Police have ruled out foul play after a man was found dead on the hard shoulder of the M67. The west-bound carriageway of the motorway was closed on Tuesday morning following an incident between junctions three and four near Hyde.
Officers were called to reports of a concern for welfare and a man was found dead on the hard shoulder. READ MORE: Prime Minister calls Clean Air Zone 'completely unworkable' Today (Wednesday) a spokesman for Greater Manchester Police confirmed the man found dead was in his 60s, the second man to have been killed after being hit by a car on the M67 in the last month. "We have passed a file to the coroner as we believe there are no grounds for suspicion," he added.
An inquest is expected to be held into the death. The identity of the dead man has not been released. The carriageway remained closed for much of Tuesday while an investigation into the death continued.
Father-of-four Chris Gaffney, 34, died after he was hit by a car on the motorway at about 8pm on Sunday, January 2. "Chris' death has completely devastated our lives and we are suffering from our tragic loss,” a statement from the family said at the time. "Chris was a real joker, he was so funny with a cheeky grin.
