Writers Guild Contract Negotiations With Studios Pushed Back a Week

By Dave McNary Film Reporter With no fanfare, Hollywood studios and leaders of the Writers Guild of America have moved back the start of masters contract negotiations a week to May 18.

Representatives of the WGA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers were not immediately available for comment about the change, which was revealed Saturday.

The two sides had exchanged proposals, as scheduled, on May 1 in advance of starting negotiations remotely on May 11. They are facing a June 30 contract expiration.

The WGA and the AMPTP originally agreed in early March to launch talks on March 23, but the coronavirus pandemic disrupted those plans.
