In many ways, 1999 felt like the last time the general public truly had nothing to rage against. That’s false, of course; the problems that exist now were always there, just swept under the rug.
As the millennium came to an end, there was a permeation of “what’s left?” in the air. Much of the popular “angry” music at the time reflected this.
Bands like Limp Bizkit and Korn captured a sort of overproduced, manufactured, and directionless rage felt by a large section of the youth, this writer unfortunately included.
