Wisconsin voters say inflation, climate change are among their top voting priorities ahead of midterms

House Republican Conference chairwoman Elise Stefanik of New York predicted a "big Republican year" in the 2022 midterm elections, saying inflation is the "top reason" behind the projected gains. During a video interview with Fox News Digital, Stefanik said the "energy and enthusiasm" for Republicans is "contagious" and pointed to key issues such as inflation and crime as drivers of people backing the GOP. "People want safety and security.They want to change," Stefanik said.

President Biden's Secretary of Transportation and economic advisers were pressed on inflation and the state of the economy ahead of the midterm elections on Sunday.  CNN's Dana Bash asked Council of Economic Advisers Chair Cecilia Rouse about the September inflation report and the president's reaction to the numbers during "State of the Union" on Sunday. "The price of food is part of our inflation challenge," Rouse said.

An economic adviser for President Biden claimed that Americans will notice a decrease in inflation when tax credits kick in that will allow them to weatherize their home. Asked by CNN Sunday when the Inflation Reduction Act will start bringing down inflation, Biden economic adviser Cecilia Rouse promised a noticeable difference "next year." "For example, there are tax credits for energy to help people weatherize their homes and also bring down other forms of energy costs," Rouse said.

With less than a month until the midterm elections, Republicans and Democrats are at odds with what issues they believe are more meaningful and will drive voters to the polls. Several political insiders suggest economic burdens felt by Americans will be the major driving force for voters in November, but others have their doubts. As inflation continues to rise, Republicans are pointing fingers at President Biden and Democrats for the economic burdens being felt throughout the country.

Atlanta, GA – A first and final face-off between Georgia Senate candidates Friday night ended with each man hoping it was enough to bring undecided voters into their corners to avoid a runoff.  The long-awaited debate between Senator Raphael Warnock and former professional football star Herschel Walker touched on a wide range of issues, including inflation – the top issue for Georgia voters at 25%, according to the latest Fox News Poll. Sen. Warnock said, "[Walker] said he would not have voted for the Inflation Reduction Act and I think he should tell the people of Georgia why he thinks they should have expensive insulin and why the pharmaceutical companies should be able to charge us whatever they like." Walker bit back quickly, saying, "I believe in reducing insulin, but at the same time, you've got to eat, right?" He then said, "you have to get food prices down and you've got to get gas down, so they can go get insulin." In perhaps one of the most unusual moments of the night, Walker pulled out a prop when his opponent brought up a controversy that surfaced early on in the campaign.

Pennsylvania Republican Senate candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz said on "America's Newsroom" he believes Black voters in the state are increasingly rejecting Democrat John Fetterman's policies.  Oz said the people in Philadelphia are not "having it" in regard to heroin injection sites, supported by Fetterman. He responded to a new Fox News poll showing Fetterman leading among non-White voters 52-24%.

The White House denied it should pivot its economic policies Thursday after September's consumer price index indicated Americans are still battling record-high prices just weeks before the midterms.  Jared Bernstein of the White House Council of Economic Advisers joined "America's Newsroom" to discuss the latest inflation data and why the Biden administration should not alter its current policy.  "Because the policies that we're doing to help mitigate and ease price pressures are having effect," Bernstein told Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino. The closely watched midterm races in Georgia are tightening just four weeks before the November 8 election, according to a new poll that shows abortion is the leading issue over inflation among Democratic voters. A new Quinnipiac University survey found that inflation is the top most important issue to 43% of likely voters in Georgia, while abortion was of top concern to only 14% and election laws to 11% of respondents.  Among likely Democratic voters in Georgia, however, abortion was the most important to 27%, election laws were most crucial for 17%, and gun violence to 13%. With prices remaining high across the country, inflation was only of top concern to 12% of Democratic respondents in the Peach State.

The Treasury Department inspector general confirmed in a letter to Democratic lawmakers that the agency is planning to audit whether spending by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on migrant flights was improper.

Top Democratic leaders are staying away from Arizona gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs's suggestion that the government should not put any limits on how late in a pregnancy women can get an abortion. Hobbs appeared on CBS Sunday to discuss her race against GOP nominee Kari Lake, who supports allowing abortions up to the first 15 weeks of pregnancy.

A pumpkin weighing 2,560 pounds set a new U.S. record on Monday at the 49th World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off in northern California.  The giant gourd was presented at the contest in Half Moon Bay, south of San Francisco.  Minnesota horticulture teacher, Travis Gienger, drove with the pumpkin for 35 hours and won the same contest two years ago.  "Minnesota has a great midyear, but our spring in our parts is really, really tough. So to do it in Minnesota, it just shouldn’t happen," he told The Associated Press.

: It has been months since the public has heard from Hall of Fame NFL quarterback Brett Favre regarding his alleged involvement in the Mississippi welfare fraud case that state auditors say funneled money to a new volleyball wellness center at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM).
