WASHINGTON – The Senate voted 54-42 Wednesday to confirm Jocelyn Samuels, the Executive Director of the Williams Institute at the University of California Los Angeles School of Law, to a Democratic seat on the Federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
This action came one day after the Senate confirmed Andrea Lucas and Keith Sonderling to Republican seats on the commission.
Samuels has served as executive director of the Williams Institute since 2017. Before joining the Institute, she served as director of the Office for Civil Rights at the Department of Health and Human Services Department and as acting assistant attorney general for civil rights at the U.S.
