He’s prowled the edges of Jordan Peele’s Get Out, David Lynch’s Twin Peaks: The Return, and the Safdie brothers’ Heaven Knows What, where he played a dangerous junkie whose idea of fun is listening to the notorious death metal act Burzum, led by real-life convicted murderer Varg Vikernes, on a public library computer.
Over the phone, though, the 30-year-old sounds like he would be more at home in a screwball comedy. The Texas native’s drawl is cartoonishly thick as he intersperses anecdotes about his favorite songs with loopy non-sequiturs and details about his debut album, The Mother Stone.
