Well-wishers raise £17k for couple who accidentally bought derelict mansion instead of Glasgow flat

fundraiser started for a young couple who accidentally ended up investing in an abandoned mansion in Dunoon instead of a Glasgow flat has raised over £17,000.

Cal Hunter, 28, from Hull and his 26-year-old Canadian girlfriend Claire Segeren had planned to move to a new life in Scotland but a mix-up at the auction house left them with a bigger project than they had anticipated.

Cal paid £30k for what he believed to be two-bedroom flat that needed some work done in Glasgow's southside. But it turned out to be a 120-year-old derelict mansion in Dunoon, according to Glasgow Live.

The cost was only for one-third of the building but the other owner decided to sell their share to the couple who have decided to take on the DIY project.
