The documentary maker behind Wayne Rooney's new film has revealed what surprised him most about former footballer. Rooney is released on Amazon Prime Video today (Friday) and promises to be a tell-all of the scandals the former England footballer has faced in his career on and off the pitch.

Wayne, 36, and wife Coleen, 35, have opened up the doors to their £20m Cheshire home to the cameras, giving a glimpse inside their family life with their four children.

But while giving a rare insight into the Derby County manager's life now, it also takes a look back at his footballing years with Manchester United as well as the infidelity scandals that have rocked his and wife Coleen's 14-year-marriage. Speaking to Lorraine's stand-in host Ranvir Singh, Matt said: "I've worked with a few footballers now and yeah, they've all got massive lovely houses, but they are just normal human beings behind it all. "Coleen and Wayne were lovely, they straight away offered me a cup of tea and brought me a biscuit." He added: "I asked Wayne a question, 'Who does all the cooking?' and Wayne laughed and said, 'It’s mainly Coleen,' because Wayne puts too much white pepper in all his food and ruins all the cooking.
