smashed a pensioner in the face with a bottle of Budweiser after claiming that the victim was friends with a rapist. Dennis Morgan and his victim, John O'Brien, were discussing a mutual acquaintance while out drinking.The Crown Court in Liverpool heard how a conflict broke out between the pair when 34-year-old Morgan accused the unidentified acquaintance of being a rapist.

According to Liverpool Echo, Mr O'Brien stated that he would continue being friends with the man, provoking Morgan to attack the 69-year-old and leave him with permanent scars.

Prosecutor on the case, Michael Stephenson, stated that Mr O'Brien and his partner had been out in New Brighton before heading to Liverpool on May 30 last year.
