Two men charged with weapons and drug offences in police sting on criminal encryption system

The pair were arrested on March 11 after police carried out early morning raids at 6am in Heywood, Hollins and Blackley. Stashes of cash were seized along with a car and mobile phones.The warrants came as part of an ongoing operation, codenamed Foam, infiltrating an encrypted communication system used by gang members.Operation Foam is Greater Manchester Police's arm of a national crackdown named Operation Venetic and has seen tens of arrests in similar dawn raids across the region in recent months.
