A man was attacked on an Eccles street on Sunday afternoon. Two people, a man and a woman, have since been arrested on suspicion of assault.

A large police cordon was erected outside the Eccles Cross pub, Regent Street, shortly after 4pm, on Sunday (March 27). There was a significant police presence at the scene for over an hour as investigations were carried out.

There was speculation that the incident had first broken out inside the Wetherspoons - however the large pub chain quickly cleared up the facts and confirmed that the assault actually happened outside.

However, they did confirm that those involved had been inside the pub earlier in the day. READ MOREFamilies 'run for safety' as huge brawl breaks out in restaurant during Mother's Day meal Police said that a man, aged 29, and woman, 46, were arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault.
