From last Monday, April 12, non-essential shops were allowed to re-open for the first time since Christmas as part of the latest stage of the easing of national lockdown.

Hospitality businesses such as pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants were also allowed to start serving people outdoors. And large numbers of people came out to take advantage of post-lockdown freedoms and the sunny spring weather, council chiefs have said.
