Hidden away between Quay Street and Deansgate is the small yet perfectly formed St John’s Gardens. It’s a tranquil green oasis in the heart of the city, full of beautiful flowers, trees and shrubs.
Not many people even realise the park is there, so you’ll never struggle to find a free bench or a patch of grass to sit on.
Despite its pretty appearance, the park does have an eerie history to it. The site was originally occupied by St John’s Church and graveyard from the 1760s until 1931.
