Eric Carle has sadly passed away at the age of 91, according to Deadline. The author was best known for writing “A Very Hungry Caterpillar” and “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?” Eric‘s family shared that he passed away on Sunday, May 23, at his studio in Northampton, Mass., after a battle with kidney failure. “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” was published in 1969, and featured holes in the pages where the titular critter appeared to have “eaten” through them.
The picture book was eventually adapted as a TV movie in the UK, and also featured his other stories, “Papa, Please Get the Moon for Me”, “The Very Quiet Cricket”, “The Mixed-Up Chameleon” and “I See a Song”.
