so much after school. Over-the-counter pain meds didn’t help. I’d need to just take a nap and leave my homework for later. I went to a very competitive high school, and the migraines intensified during high-stress times, like when I was doing standardized testing and applying to colleges.I ended up going to a , who put me on medication that definitely helped a lot.

I take it at night because it makes me drowsy, but I haven’t had any other real side effects. When I started college, pre-Covid, my migraines weren’t an issue at all—probably because I was active and not staring at screens, which are a major for me, all day.

In class, I didn’t take notes on my computer often, and there weren’t many smart boards, just old-fashioned chalkboards. Also, there was just so much time spent walking to class or sitting in the library talking with people—long, unprompted breaks from screens.But when classes went virtual due to the pandemic in the spring of 2020, my migraines suddenly became an issue again.

I was just on screens all day long. My neurologist said that I definitely shouldn’t be on screens for long stretches every day, but there was nothing I could do about it.After I graduated from college, rather than go right into a job that would involve working remotely on Zoom all day, I spent a year homeschooling a child in Maine.
