Greater Manchester’s coronavirus infection rate has fallen again - but is still higher than the national average. The region’s rate now stands at 93.4 cases per 100,000 population in the week ending March 19, according to the latest data from Public Health England.
The national average was 55.3 during the same period. In that week, a total of 2,649 people tested positive for coronavirus across the conurbation.
That’s a four percent drop on the previous week. There were 39 Covid-19 deaths recorded in the region during that time - 15 fewer than in the previous seven days.
