The Celtic nine-in-a-row reconstruction precedent and how the new SPFL setup could look

The Scottish league system was reconstructed the last time Celtic clinched nine-in-a-row and history looks set to repeat itself with the Hoops on the verge of repeating that feat.

Jock Stein’s men sealed a ninth title on the spin in 1974 after which a new 10-team Premier Division was agreed to strengthen the top flight.

However, it wasn’t introduced until August 1975 and it was Rangers who won the last 18-team Division One to stop Celtic winning 10-in-a-row.

With the Parkhead expected to be awarded the league when the campaign is scrapped it will be the second time in their history they’ve won nine-in-a-row.
