‘The Bear,’ ‘Beef’ Lead 2023 Emmy Wins, HBO Nabs Most Wins by Network

Joe Otterson TV Reporter “The Bear” and “Beef” came out on top at the 2023 Emmy Awards, with the two shows garnering more wins than any other program of the year. “The Bear” came into the night with four wins from the Creative Arts Emmys, picking up six additional wins throughout the evening for: best comedy series, best supporting actress in a comedy (Ayo Edibri), best supporting actor in a comedy (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), best actor in a comedy (Jeremy Allen White), and best writing and best directing for a comedy series (both Christopher Storer). “Beef” took home eight awards in total, including five Primetime Emmy statuettes throughout the night.

Those were: best limited or anthology series or movie, best actor in a limited or anthology series or movie (Steven Yeun), and best actress in a limited or anthology series or movie (Ali Wong).

Lee Sung Jin also picked up wins for both best writing and best directing for a limited or anthology series or movie. Read the full winners list here. “The Last of Us” also had eight wins overall, with all eight of the hit HBO show’s wins coming at the Creative Arts Emmys.

HBO was the top network of the year with 31 wins across all of its programs. “Succession” accounted for six of those wins, including a win for best drama series and best actor (Kieran Culkin) and best actress in a drama (Sarah Snook).
