The so-called ‘Wagatha Christie’ trial has reached a conclusion, with Rebekah Vardy losing her libel claim against Coleen Rooney, in an announcement made on July 29.The trial, which ended in May, came after Coleen accused Rebekah’s Instagram account of leaking fake stories about her to the press in October 2019.
Rebekah has denied the allegation. But as the trial played out in court, former WAG Lizzie Cundy claimed that the Vardy v Rooney had “really split the football community”.
During an interview with OK!, Lizzie, who was married to former footballer Jason Cundy for 16 years before they separated in 2010, claimed: “There are people who were friends with them both who have now taken sides.
Football was once called the beautiful game – I’m not sure it’s called that any more.” She added: "I don’t think the community will ever be the same again.
