50 Cent sues ex-girlfriend after “defamatory” rape claim

50 Cent has filed a lawsuit against his ex-girlfriend after she accused him of rape online.The defamation case was issued by the rapper against Daphne Joy Narvaez, after the model, entrepreneur and mother of his 11-year-old son accused him of rape on Instagram in March.The two were in a relationship between 2011 and 2013 and, in his recent filing, 50 Cent claims that Narvaez “retaliated” against him and shared “false” rape allegations after discovering that he was planning to seek sole custody of their son.According to reports by Rolling Stone, the rapper decided to file for sole custody in a bid to “protect the interests of his minor child”. It came after he learned of the high-profile lawsuit filed by music producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones against music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, which alleged that Narvaez was a “sex worker” employed by Combs.In response to the accusations by Combs, she shared a post on Instagram reading: “I am deeply hurt by the lies in Rodney Jones’ lawsuit.

Sean “Diddy” Combs is set to receive the Global Icon Award and make his live return at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.The rapper will receive the prestigious prize at New Jersey’s famed Prudential Center for his “unparalleled career and continued influence that has achieved unrivaled global success in music and beyond” next Tuesday (September 12).He will also perform on the night live for the first time at the VMAs since 2005.In addition to receiving the Global Icon Award, Diddy is also nominated for four other awards this year two of which include Best Collaboration for his work on ‘Creepin’ (Remix) and ‘Gotta Move On’ featuring Bryson Tiller, Ashanti and Yung Miami as well as Best Rap and Best R&B.He made his debut at the event in 1997 performing ‘Mo Money Mo Problems’ live and he went on to host the VMAs in 2005.Last year, the Global Icon Award went to Red Hot Chili Peppers who dedicated their prize to late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins.Meanwhile, Shakira will also be presented with the Video Vanguard Award at the VMAs, which was previously won in 2022 by Nicki Minaj, while other past winners include Madonna, Janet Jackson, LL Cool J, Jennifer Lopez and Missy Elliott.Taylor Swift, Doja Cat and SZA lead this year’s nominations with Swift getting eight nods, and the latter receiving six. Diddy has been forced to pay Sting £4,020 ($5,000) each day for the rest of his life.The hip-hop icon was forced to pay the ongoing fee after sampling one of the musician’s tracks without permission in 1997.The sample in question was taken from The Police’s hit 1983 single, ‘Every Breath You Take’, which Diddy used in one of his most famous tracks, ‘I’ll Be Missing You”.
