Rebecca Rubin Senior Film and Media Reporter Sarah Snook, the Emmy-winning “Succession” actor, will make her Broadway debut playing 26 characters in “The Pictures of Dorian Gray.” The adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s gothic horror novel is transferring to the Great White Way in March 2025 for a strictly limited engagement.

Kip Williams directed the show, which recently wrapped an acclaimed run on London’s West End. The story, published by Wilde in 1890, follows a man who makes a Faustian bargain to sell his soul for youth and beauty.

As described in the official press release, “Williams’ interpretation of beauty, excess, and a deal with the devil brings a striking resonance in our current era, holding a mirror to 21st century society’s narcissistic obsession with youth.” “It was a singular privilege to bring ‘The Picture of Dorian Gray‘ to life in London and I am thrilled we will be able to share this astonishing production with audiences in New York,” Snook said in a statement. “From Oscar Wilde’s timeless words to the masterful reinterpretation Kip Williams has created, this tale of virtue, corruption, vanity and repercussion is an electrifying journey for me as much as for the audiences and I am filled with anticipation as we continue on this ambitious creative endeavor.” Snook won an Olivier Award for her performance in “The Picture of Dorian Gray” in London.

She is best known as Shiv Roy, whom she portrayed for four seasons on HBO’s “Succession.” Her other theater credits include productions of “King Lear,” “The Master Builder” and “Saint Joan.” On the big and small screen, Snook has also appeared in “Steve Jobs,” “An American Pickle” and “Run Rabbit Run.” Williams is currently the artistic director of Sydney Theatre.
