St Patrick's Day is nearly here, when anyone with a hint of Irish lineage - or just a taste for Guinness - will be painting Manchester shamrock green.
Home to a proud Irish community, the city joins in wholeheartedly with the celebrations on Ireland's patron saint's day. As well as the annual parade, which takes place this year on Sunday March 15, there are 10 days of festivities beginning this weekend.
Crowds are expected to line the streets to watch as the procession weaves its way through the city. It sets off from the Irish World Heritage Centre just off Queen's Road, Cheetham Hill, at 12 noon and will finish at the corner of Deansgate and Liverpool Road at about 2pm.
