Hurt Locker hero who once dodged death in an Afghan bomb blast has died at the age of 39.Army legend David Timmins lost an eye and suffered massive internal injuries in an explosion in Afghanistan during Operation Panther’s Claw in July 2009.The Royal Logistic Corps Corporal showed incredible bravery when he helped save badly injured Sapper Matthew Weston.The decorated war hero saved scores of lives in his career, defusing deadly IEDs as a member of crack squad Explosive Device Disposal Team 5, known as the famous five.David – who was due to turn 40 later this month – was awarded the Queen’s Gallantry Medal.His death triggered many tributes.
