The family of a murdered detective have called for his bravery to be recognised after almost 40 years. Detective Sergeant Ross Hunt died after being stabbed by three members of the same family in Larkhall, Lanarkshire, in 1983.
Over the years his widow Marjory, who died in 2013, and three sons have tried to have him honoured posthumously.Last month they were told by the Secretary of State for Scotland, Alister Jack, that their latest request for a medal had been refused by the Home Office and Cabinet Office in Downing Street.
