Scots cargo ship crashes with Danish container vessel as searches underway for missing people

A Scots cargo ship has crashed into a Danish container vessel with a desperate rescue mission for two missing people underway.

The Scot Carrier, which was destined for Montrose, is thought to be functional with its crew safe but the Karin Hoej has capsized.The incident took place between Ystad, Sweden and the nearby island of Bornholm at around 3.30am on Monday, December 13.Screaming was reported at 4:45am, according to Jonas Franzen, communications manager at the Swedish Maritime Administration.At least 10 lifeboats and a helicopter are at the scene although efforts from crews have been hampered by the early morning darkness.Although the collision in Swedish territorial waters, Denmark is also helping with the rescue.
